AREA 1 Rules ~
In order to accumulate points for Area 1 year end awards, all riders, handlers and owners must be members of the Area 1 Promotional Club and reside within the boundaries of Area 1. For those people who have an AQHA lease, only the Leasee needs to be a member of Area 1.
Entries placing in a class will be awarded points in accordance with the total number of placings made by the judge up to nine on a sliding point system. See example below:

In Grand and reserve halter classes, the Grand Champion will receive 2 points over the largest point class (excluding weanlings) and the Reserve Champion will receive 1 point over the largest point class.
Standings are calculated as follows:
Exhibitors need to accumulate points at a minimum of four Area 1 approved shows and 2 Area 1 Circuits to be eligible for year end awards.
If you show at more than 70% of Area 1 approved shows, your best 70% are counted. This rule is meant to even the playing field for those exhibitors who may have to miss a weekend due to sickness, holidays, or distance.
